Our next intervention-performance, dear artists we’ve loved so much, is a dialogue of love and questions between the three of us, members of the 3ème vague collective, and the tutelary figures who have marked our careers.
After several years of creating different formats within 3ème vague, we’d like to develop a new creation, this time with ourselves as performers. This new format is a direct address to the artists who have shaped our vision and our artistic universe.
We’ll be writing a letter to fifty artists, entering into a dialogue with them, and asking them about their relationship to artistic creation in this time of ecological crisis.
As our group is questioning the functioning and role of artistic institutions, we see the preliminary meeting with the artists as an exchange about what links us at this time of need for change in our practices: imagining and proposing new aesthetics, mutualization practices, free accessibility of tools, rethinking production and touring systems, questioning the function of institutions, questioning the role of art and our responsibilities in this crisis (freedom, morals and ethics of artists in relation to artistic creation). Is it time to fork out or break away? And how?
The answers we receive will take the form of a scenic audio transcription, with political and aesthetic viewpoints that are sometimes concordant, sometimes antagonistic, that we’ll try to put into perspective. We’ll be using a scenographic device with several small speakers on wheels, which we’ll be able to move around, creating a form of conversational choreography between these different artists and ourselves.
This creation is supported by kunstencentrum Buda - Kortrijk.
The project will be launched at the It’s a match days as part of the Next festival 2023.
